An alarming norovirus outbreak has left more than ↓ 100 passengers on a Caribbean cruise seeking medical care, according to ship officials.

Norovirus Outbreak on Luxury Vessel

The vessel, sailing from Miami, reported the first cases early Tuesday, and by nightfall the tally had surged. Symptoms ranged from vomiting to severe diarrhea, prompting the cruise line to suspend onboard activities and divert to a nearby port for disembarkation. Health authorities onboard, in coordination with the Reuters report, initiated quarantine protocols and increased sanitation measures.

“We are treating this as a high‑risk situation and will keep passengers informed,” said a senior medical officer.

The incident follows a global uptick in norovirus cases both at sea and on land, highlighting the virus’s resilience in crowded environments. Travelers are urged to practice rigorous hand hygiene and monitor for symptoms, as the cruise line works with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to contain the spread.
