US-Iran ceasefire remains in effect

President Donald Trump asserted on Tuesday that the US-Iran ceasefire holds despite a brief clash in the Strait of Hormuz that saw both sides exchange fire. Iranian officials, however, claim the United States breached the truce by striking a commercial tanker and targeting coastal installations.

“We did not violate any agreement,” the White House spokesperson said.

Analysts warn the incident could raise regional volatility, especially as oil shipments through the narrow waterway already face ↓ 2 percent delays.
