The stalled Iran US deal hinges on three flashpoints that both Washington and Tehran refuse to compromise on.

Iran US deal: uranium enrichment standoff

Iran has pushed its low‑enriched uranium stockpiles to ↑ 7% since 2022, a move that fuels American calls for tighter export controls.

Sanctions versus oil revenue

U.S. officials argue that any concession on sanctions would embolden Tehran’s regional proxies, while Tehran warns that a blanket embargo could cripple its economy.

“We cannot accept a deal that leaves Iran’s enrichment capacity unchecked,” a senior State Department official told Reuters.

Meanwhile, oil flowing through the Strait of Hormuz slipped ↓ 4% last quarter, heightening concerns about global supply disruptions.

Analysts at Bloomberg warn that without a breakthrough, the diplomatic deadlock could spill over into a broader security crisis.
