Recent data reveal that older Americans drinking more alcohol is bucking the broader U.S. decline. Between 2018 and 2024, the National Health Interview Survey tracked 114,000 adults, showing a ↓ 2% dip in overall drinking nationwide, while the 50‑64 age bracket posted a ↑ 4% rise in total consumption and a 36% surge in heavy drinking.
