Warsh’s policy committee is under growing pressure as US inflation held at ↓ 3.4% in August, defying expectations for a swift cooldown.

US inflation fuels rate‑rise debate

Energy markets surged last week, with Brent crude climbing ↑ 5%, adding further strain on consumer prices.

"Persistently high inflation forces us to reconsider the timing of any rate cut," said a senior Fed official, speaking to Reuters.

Analysts at Bloomberg project that Warsh may need to raise its benchmark rate by 25 basis points by Q4 if the price pressure continues.

Implications for markets

Bond yields have edged higher, while equity indices show mixed reactions as investors price in the potential tightening cycle.
