President Donald Trump warned on April 6 that the United States would unleash attacks “bigger, better, and stronger than anyone has ever seen” unless Iran lives up to the “real agreement” tied to the fragile cease‑fire.

He pledged that U.S. ships, aircraft and troops will stay on “high alert” around Iran until full compliance, adding the force is “loading up and looking forward to its next conquest.” Tehran’s parliament speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf cited Iran’s right to enrich uranium as a non‑negotiable point in a 10‑point proposal.

“Protecting our enrichment rights is necessary for any cease‑fire talks,” said Mohammad Eslami, head of the Atomic Energy Organization.

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt called enrichment a “red line” the president will not retreat from. Negotiators led by Vice President J.D. Vance, Jared Kushner and envoy Steve Witkoff are slated to meet Iranian officials in Islamabad on Saturday. Meanwhile, the Strait of Hormuz—through which roughly 20% of global oil flows—remains a flashpoint. Iran’s alleged deployment of sea mines has spurred warnings that navigation could be unsafe, pushing oil prices up ↓ 5% in volatile markets. Reuters reported that the closure of the strait has already rattled energy markets, and experts fear a ripple effect on the Bab El‑Mandeb chokepoint. Israel’s intensified strikes on Hezbollah in Lebanon, now over 200 dead, have been condemned by Iranian officials as a breach of the cease‑fire, though the U.S. maintains Lebanon is excluded. European leaders, including EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas, warned that continued Israeli attacks could unravel the fragile truce. The coming talks will test whether the “real agreement” can survive these overlapping disputes.
